Using an Extension for MFA

To successfully use a Multi-factor Authentication browser extension, watch the following video or follow the step-by-step instructions.

Click here to watch the video on YouTube.

1. Search for an Authenticator

Symphony supports any time-based authenticator application. We recommend the Google Authenticator Extension for a Chrome browser or 2FA for Edge.

2. Install the Application

3. Configure the Multi-Factor Authentication

During registration in Symphony, open the authenticator application and follow the prompts to scan a QR code or enter a setup key.

  1. Select the QR code extension on the browser.

  2. Use the Scan option.

  3. Drag the frame over the QR code on the screen (See Figure 1).

  4. View a success message when the QR code is captured.

To enter the secret set-up key, select the plus icon in Google Authenticator to add an account during registration.

  1. Enter the secret key that appears above the QR code.
  2. The required account name or issuer details can be anything.
Usually, this is the site name or email address used to register.

4. Validate the Multi-Factor Authentication Configuration

Enter the six-digit code in the field provided when MFA setup is done

  1. COPY the one-time passcode generated and PASTE the code in Symphony.

  2. Authenticate to successfully complete registration.

Users with multiple Symphony accounts should rename the codes to reflect the contract vehicle for the One-Time Passcode (OTP). A unique code for each Symphony website is required.
